I was in my 30's when I discovered Chaplin. I had always dismissed the Tramp
as a silly, slapstick clown from the old silent movies. One morning while channel
surfing the TV I came across a Chaplin film, which I now realize was "The Gold
Rush". Normally I would have injured myself rushing to change channels but this
time I watched for some reason. Within minutes I was drawn in and wanted more.
I couldn't believe how watching just a few minutes of this film had
affected me. I began to rent Chaplin videos and now, almost 10 years later, the beautiful
art of Charlie Chaplin is a major inspiration in my life.
